We are always looking for new readers of all ages to join in proclaiming the liturgy. I have been involved with music in the parish from childhood having sung in the choir and played many musical instruments to enhance the liturgy over many, many years.

I am now responsible for music in the parish as organist and choir leader.

I am passionate about music because it absolutely enriches everything that we do and provides benefits to both physical health and mental wellbeing.

Our choir is a very friendly group. Members meet for practice on Sundays after the 11 am Mass and/or Tuesday evenings at 8pm. We welcome anyone who loves to sing (ability to read music is NOT required). If you would like to join us or find out more, please get in touch or simply come along to one of our practices.

Lead: Christina

One of my many roles at the church is that of Sacristan. My duties are very varied and I attend these with reverence. I am also a Eucharistic Minister and support the cleaners. I feel blessed to be part of this team. I attend 9 am Mass on a Sunday.

I have been a parishioner at our Lady of the Rosary for many years. Since 2015, I have been organizing our Parish Floristry Group. Our members look after all the flowers in the church and new members are always made very welcome. No experience is needed. If you would like to join the team please contact me. I am normally at the 9 am Mass on Sunday, or leave your details with Father John or Vicki and I will get in touch.

Lead: Jo

I joined the Padre Pio Prayer Group around 40 years ago following a visit to Tome where I was handed a relic card of Padre Pio which greatly kindled my interest. After many weeks of searching I found this prayer group in Blackfen, founded by Braz and Fr Pyle. Braz became our forceful spiritual leader and the group had around 40 members.

Sadly, after the demise of dear Braz and of the others who tried the prayer group going, our numbers are now greatly diminished, we need to swell our ranks.

So please feel free to join us on Wednesday mornings after 10am mass, when we meet in the small hall.

Faith Formation & Catechesis

Lead: Jayne

I have been a parishioner here since I was born and have extensive experience of teaching and working with young people of all ages. Beginning my career as a teacher at Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School, I moved on to Deputy Headship in another catholic school and Headship of a large three form entry school.

The Acutis Youth Group meets on Wednesdays between 7 and 9 pm and we welcome all new members in years 7-11. We are also very grateful to receive help from any adults or young people in years 12 and 13. If you would like to get involved, please get in touch through the church office or speak to me at 11am Mass on Sunday.

Lead: Rose

Rose, a qualified teacher with much experience, has led children’s liturgy for many, many years. Children who have not yet made their First Holy Communion are invited to join the group at 9 am Mass on Sundays (term time) when they will access the liturgy of the day in an accessible and interactive way before rejoining their families for the rest of the Mass. We want to encourage as many families as possible to join in. If you wish to know more, Rose is available before and after 9 am Mass on Sunday and is always happy to have a chat.

Lead: Jayne

I have much experience of teaching and leadership as class teacher, senior leader and head teacher across a number of schools. If you wish to enroll yourself or your child for classes or if you are interested in becoming a member of the catechist  team, please get in touch with me via the church office or see me before or after 11 am Mass on Sunday.

Community & Fellowship

Lead: Becky

I’ve attended Our Lady since 1999, when we moved to Blackfen. As a family we were always made welcome. I welcome parishioners to the social club, after 11am Sunday Mass, it’s a lovely chance for everyone to get together over a little bite to eat & a cup of tea & cake. Having run this now for over 10 years I could sure use some extra pairs of hands to help me. So please make yourself known to me, if you are able to spare 1 hour after Mass on Sunday. Many thanks.

Lead: Elsa

I have had the joy of running our friendly lunch club for the last 5 years. We are a warm, welcoming group that comes together to share food, laughter, conversation – and sometimes even singing and dancing! Everyone is welcome, parishioners and non-parishioners alike. Come as you are and enjoy good company in a relaxed, joyful atmosphere (12 noon – 2 pm).

Safeguarding is the responsibility of all members of the parish. We want to promote a loving, caring and inclusive community where every individual is valued and supported to thrive.

All churches must be safe, welcoming places, especially for the vulnerable, and we are committed to protecting children, young people, and adults at risk from harm. This requires all clergy, volunteers, and parishioners to follow archdiocesan policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone. We actively promote safeguarding and respond to any concerns seriously and appropriately, in line with national and diocesan policies.
